A third of the species that inhabit the world’s oceans may still be unknown to science, a new study suggests.

And that’s despite the fact more species have been described in the last decade than in any previous one, the new report says.

The study details the first comprehensive register of the world's marine species - a massive collaborative undertaking by hundreds of experts around the globe.
